2024 Internal Competition Rules:
The club will run 4 internal competitions each year. Three of these internal competitions will take place during the first half of the year between January and June prior the club's summer break with the fourth taking place between September and December following the club returning from its break.

Entries
- Members entering work must own the copyright of that work and be able to assert their moral right to be associated with all aspects of the source elements of the work. For the avoidance of doubt, use of images from any other source including, but not limited to, royalty free image banks and clipart are not permitted. Also, images wholly or partially created using ‘Generative Artificial Intelligence’ (AI) are not permitted. “If you haven’t made the input, can you claim the output?” PAGB guidelines: Any importation, whether manual or automated, of all or part of a single image or of a generated image which includes or has been developed from the work of others, means that the resulting content is not entirely the work of the photographer and that the resulting image does not comply with the PAGB General Conditions.
- Once an image has been entered into a monthly competition, the same one may not be entered into any other monthly competition. Please respect the spirit of this rule by not entering images that are virtually identical to ones already used.
Judging, Scoring and Merit Table
- Each competition will comprises of three section; colour prints, black and white prints and PDIs.
- The PDI section can consist of all colour images or all black and white images or a mix of both.
- Each member can submit up to three images in each section.
- Images submitted will then be judged by all members with each member selecting a first, second and third place but only images selected in first place will go forward towards the end of year 'Image of the Year' competition.
- The 'Image of the Year' competition will be judged by an external independent judge.
- The following points with be awarded First Place - 20 points, Second Place - 19 points, and Third Place - 18 points. All other images in each section will be awarded 16 points
- Points awarded to members will be recorded in a cumulative merit table. Only the best 28 scores (from a possible 36, maximum 9 images per competition over 4 competitions) will be counted in the final merit table. The member with the most points will be deemed ‘Photographer of the Year'.
- In the event of a tie the greatest number of first places will decide the winner. If still tied, the greatest number of second places will decide the winner. If still tied, the greatest number of third places will decide the winner.
Titling, Labelling and Preparation of Entries
- Prints should carry a label with following information on it, the competition number, the competition section (colour or black & white), date of the competition, your 7-digit membership number (e.g. MTCC009) and the image title. The label should be placed in top left-hand corner on the reverse of the mount. There should be no other identifying marks. Labels for the competition will be supplied to each member prior to the competition entry date.
- Prints should be ideally mounted on self-supporting card of 500mm x400mm. Larger sizes are not allowed. Smaller sizes may be used but may not be eligiblefor many external competitions.
- Digital images - The file name of your digital image should be the competition number, date of the competition, your 7 digit membership number and the image title. For example: Comp 1_28-02-24_MTCC009_My Image Name.
- Digital images must be saved in JPEG format to maximum quality. Maximum width should be 1600 pixels; Maximum height should be 1200 pixels. We recommend a resolution of 72ppi. The colour space should be sRGB as other colour spaces may project the colours differently.

- Digital images may be entered on a USB device which must display your name & number. Only the images intended for submission should be on the USB stick. Sticks will be available for collection after the competition.
Addition Information
- Any photograph entered may be exhibited or used elsewhere by the Club without further permission being sought from the photographer.
- If the club do for what reason use external judges, please always treat visiting judges (and presenters) with the utmost respect. They are honoured guests who have been invited to give their opinions. Under no circumstances should a member challenge a decision or make derogatory comments. Any such outbursts will be regarded as a serious breach of club etiquette and could be viewed as bringing the club into disrepute.
- Submission of an entry implies acceptance of these rules. Photographs that do not comply may be refused admission without notice.
