Welcome to Merthyr Tydfil Camera Club
New members always welcome - come along any Friday evening and meet us - FREE membership for a month
Our 2019 Photographic Exhibition was held at Cyfarthfa Castle, Merthyr Tydfi from Tuesday 7th May to Tuesday 4th June 2019.
Our club meets every Friday evening at 7.30pm in the Cefn Community Centre which is on the north side of Merthyr Tydfil Click here to view map and finishes around 9.30pm. Although we are not set up as a teaching camera club, you will find our members very helpful in offering advice and encouragement on all aspects of using a camera and producing a final print or digital projected image.
Throughout the year we run various workshops covering all aspects of photography, including subjects like Macro photography, Portrait photography, and using Photo Editing software. Some of these evening are run by our very own members who have knowledge in this particular subject or we have Guest speakers in to give us all expert advice.
Internal and External Photographic Competitions are a big part of the club for those who wish to participate. We have at least five internal competitions where members can provide up to two colour prints, two monochrome prints and two dpi's. These are commented on by external judges which makes for a good evening of viewing other members images as well as learning a lot from the comments of each image from the judges. We also enter quite a few external competitions against other clubs throughout the year, this is also very interesting as we get to see what sort of work is being produced by other clubs, and how it is being received by the various judges.
We also run an exhibition once a year which has over the past few years been exhibited at the Cyfarthfa Castle Museum & Art Gallery.
Some members within the club also get involved in working towards various photography awards by entering International Photographic Salons, again if you are possibly interested in trying to archive this type of award, then there is a lot of advice to be had within the club.
Most of all we are a friendly bunch of photographers that like nothing more than to chat about our hobby and enjoy each others company.
