Although the exhibition opening on the 30th January, the club are pleased that the official opening was performed on Friday the 2nd February by local Member of the Senedd for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney Dawn Bowden, Dawn is also Deputy Minister for Art, Sport and Tourism.
On welcoming everyone to the official opening, Club Treasurer Norman Cahill said, "The club is delighted to hold our annual exhibition at Cyfarthfa Castle once again and would like to thank the Museum staff for their help and support during this event, it is very much appreciated by all the club members. we are a small club but our members have varied interests that makes for an interesting exhibition. Images cover portraits, travel, landscapes, sport, air shows and much more."
He added "Our club offers a warm welcome to new members of all ages and abilities and you can find more details on display in the exhibition. Images on show may also vary over the month so people can visit several times if they wish. On behalf of the club I do hope people support the event and can visit during the castle's opening times. The Exhibition is on until the 1st of March 2024 and there is a admission charge which also allows access to the museum and art gallery.
Norman then handed over to the MS to official opening the exhibition. The Minister commented " It is a great pleasure to join the members of Merthyr Tydfil Camera Club and to open their annual exhibition. I know it is currently a small club of enthusiastic, talented photographers and the exhibition is a great tribute to their efforts. I would urge everyone to go along and view the exhibition, see the many different styles of images on display and hope inspire them to take their own photographs and join the club.
The Minister then cut the ribbon and open the exhibition.
